Playing on Yupo

Transparent watercolor on Yupo paper 13x18 cm

Another attempt at watercolor on Yupo feels more like play than painting.  It is very fun, but hard for me to take very seriously. Very similar to fingerpainting from kindergarden, but you don't have to get your fingers dirty. You just keep sliding the colors around with your brush until you are satisfied - or give up.
One more creative way to attempt to make challenges feel relevant.

Great feel to this I like the watery mixture and inter-movement of the different parts!

Pls what is Yupo?

Carol, I can't believe the control you have with Yupo! I love this! Again, I tried really hard to do a painting on Yupo - all weekend - and it ended up in the trash... Sure would love your suggestions on making it work?

Thank you for all the wonderful encouragement! I think, though, that pretty much everyone in the group had a good result with this subject. There are only so many ways you can paint a close-up of a house.

Irit...always happy to have your warm regards and sweet comments!

L. ...it's funny you should say that. Sometimes I don't feel so inspired and in love with life, but by the time I finish drawing and painting - I do.

Carol, thank you for coming by to visit. I like you blog, too. You know, years ago, I lived in Wisconsin. Portage and ... Briggsville, believe it or not.

Ramana, thank you!

Hi again, Adebanji! Yupo is a synthetic paper, non-porous, and feels and looks like plastic. The watercolor just sits on top of it, and for the most part, can be washed off.

Nartizt, this is my second attempt at Yupo. It is very difficult to control...which I guess is why kind of tight-A people like me like it. It forces us to not fuss over things.

I always look forward to seeing what you do with the "challenge" because you always take your own unique perspective - and this is no exception - I do love the perspective. I think you'll enjoy the yupo DVD, but you sure seem to understand it well already!

What a refeshing YUPO paintng. I love the Yupo of orange fruit, too, but my favorite painting on your blog so far is called "FRIENDS." So striking and complete.

Bravo for painting this intricate challenge on Yupo! It's excellent! That reminds me that I've been neglecting my yupo papers in a while!
