2 things I didn't know about myself until this week...I hate painting pumpkins and painting on hot press wc paper.
After 3 tries at those silly pumpkins on some hot press wc paper, I finally switched to my regular arches cold press just to soothe my tortured soul. Now I am not sure if it was the paper or the pumpkins, but the paper switch didn't help all that much. And why am I trying to paint a white pumpkin? I don't know.
Go look at some good ones at Karin's...

Believe me, it's not the paper and IT'S NOT YOU!!! These things have made a bunch of artists insane this week. I know of one that got so down he almost stopped painting completely. It makes you think you can't do anything anymore!!
I love what you did!!!
It looks great!!!:)
Pegi Sue is telling the truth, we both know of one artist who broke down because of them...
Carol, you make me laugh! I feel the pain that you described so eloquently... I also the love the dramatic treatment you did with the pumpkin subject.
BTW, your's is a member of the "good ones"
I wasn't very happy with mine either. I agree...yours is one of the good one's....in the top 5!
Well, I was very impressed with your pumpkin. Such dramatic light and shadow! I think its great!
My favorite paper is Arches cold press 140lb too.But watercolors haven't been working lately... back to the drawing board!
Love the title of this post! I didn't even try the pumpkins--didn't think I could make much of them, and now, looking at what people DID make of them, I'm doubly ashamed!
I agree yours is one of the good ones: very strong ... It has a bit of a sinister feel to it--perhaps your frustrations coming out? ;-0
I think your painting is great. I wish I had thought to crop a little more so I wouldn't have been tortured three whole times, *grin.
Well it is in the trials that beauty (if we have it ) comes out and yours came out with much of it with power to bout ! Very well done.
I LOVE your pumpkin!! It has so much drama and texture. Beautiful job!
Well, I must say I am glad you didn't give up on your white pumpkin . . . your unique composition and beautiful shadows are, I think, a great result!
